Jasper is a High School teacher facing an uphill battle. Due to cuts in funding, and general apathy by the school district, teachers and many parents, his music classes have been consolidated together, leaving him with an eclectic group of students representing wildly different backgrounds and musical preferences. Individually the students are very creative and talented. Together, however they are horrible and devolve into battling clichés and interest groups.
He is determined to prove that music is an important part of the education the school provides. His first attempts to create a unified class end disastrously. Amid parent complaints and colleagues ‘I told you so’s, Jasper pushes on. In an effort to breakdown the social and musical barriers he comes up with a competition that will push his students to expand their creative boundaries and unleash the true artists within them.
